Wallick Reaches Major Milestone

Wallick Communities is now the proud employer of over 1,000 associates.

We’ve been growing since 1966, when founder Jack Wallick formed Wallick Construction Company and took on the liabilities and abandoned contracts of a defunct contractor. From there on, Wallick began its mission to focus on an underserved population and create decent, affordable housing.

It’s 56 years later and Wallick is still in the business of changing the world for low-income families and seniors. Only now, we have further growth and accomplishments to share:

  • Developed and built 400+ communities
  • Own or manage more than 200 communities with 15,000+ apartment units
  • One of the largest green rehabs of any affordable community in U.S. history
  • Ranked first in the nation for affordable housing preservation

Not only have we had some major milestones like our Stern-Hendy merger, resulting in becoming the largest provider of affordable housing in Ohio, and expanding development into assisted living and memory care, but we have also expanded our presence. We now have communities in Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, and North Carolina.

“As we increase the amount of low-income family and senior housing, we’re able to ultimately change more people’s lives, because housing affects all aspects of a person’s life,” said CEO Amy Albery. “Our mission statement is ‘opening doors to homes, opportunities, and hope.’ I’m grateful for additional opportunities to be able to do this for more people, as Wallick continues to grow.”

Wallick’s Director of Talent Acquisition, Amanda Lovell, and her team have been a large help in accommodating this growth.

“This is an exciting time to be at Wallick,” says Lovell. “We’ve partnered across the business and with Marketing to ensure we’re able to attract the right talent through various sources and once hired, ensuring our new hires are receiving the necessary support to be engaged and successful associates.”

We are so excited for what’s to come and owe a big thank you to our associates, partners, and residents who have been on this journey with us.
