The Power of Partnerships Realized
Restoring the Berwick to its former glory.
With partners Ohio Housing Finance Agency, Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing (OCCH), USDA Rural Development, Ohio Department of Development, National Parks Service and Ohio Historic Preservation Office, Wallick led a $7.7 million redevelopment of this 48-unit rental community for low-income seniors. Financing included Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, Federal Historic Tax Credits, State Historic Tax Credits, and a restructured RD 515 loan. A variety of federal stimulus programs also helped fill the final funding gaps, including ARRA.
The renovation won the OCCH 2012 Award of Excellence in Historic Preservation. Preserving The Berwick Hotel Apartments generated more than $444,000 in local taxes in the first year; and created approximately 53 jobs.
